Meet The Maker

Well here I am, cheesy grin and all! My name is Lynne Robertson and the face behind Back From The Beach (sea glass jewellery).

I’m based in the Scottish Borders and am not only surrounded by beautiful countryside, but also beautiful beaches, the inspiration for my jewellery.

My story began over 10 years ago (gosh has it really been that long !), when I did an afternoon course in beaded jewellery with some fellow work colleagues. But the truth is, my love of art and creativity began long before that. As a child I was always making things, anything from rose petal perfume, clothes for my Sindy dolls or just stringing some beads together. When I left school, I went on to study ceramics at Duncan of Jordanstone Art College, this maintained my interested in arts and being creative but I never really took it forward as a full time career.

Back to more recent times, I came up with the idea of using some of my found sea glass pieces and making them into pendants, selling to friends and then through Facebook (that was a learning curve !). I then began to wonder if I could further my jewellery making which led to me enrolling in a silver smiths course which I loved, and it was this that really spurred me on. I’m still learning (aren’t we all)! and happy to be doing something I get so much pleasure from.
